BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore guard Megan Morgan of the College of Saint Benedict basketball team, who averaged 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 61.1 percent from the field as the Bennies had a 1-1 week, was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athlete Conference (MIAC) Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.
 
For Morgan, the honor is the first of her career and it now gives CSB basketball five honorees in 2023-24, which is the most in a single season in program history. The other honorees include Lydia Hay, Feb. 5;  Carla Meyer, Dec. 4, 2023, and Sophia Jonas on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20, 2023. In program history, CSB has had 36 MIAC Athletes of the Week.
 
In the regular season finale, Morgan, an exercise and health sciences major from Winona, Minn., had a career-high of 26 points and 10 rebounds for her first double double of her career in a 76-50 home win over St. Catherine on Feb. 17. In that game, she set a career-highs in not only points but also by making 6-of-6 three-point shots. Overall against St. Catherine, she made 8-of-11 field goals for 72.7 percent, dished five assists, made all four of her free throws and did not commit a turnover. As a result, she helped CSB earn a season split and finish 12-8 in conference play (14-10 overall) for fifth in the league. - 
 
In the two games this week, Morgan had just one turnover across two games from her guard position. Morgan was a sizzling 11-of-18 from the field for 72.7 percent overall and made 7-of-9 threes for 77.8 percent. In a 76-68 road loss at Bethel, Morgan recorded 10 points, three rebounds, two blocks and two assists.

On the season, Morgan is averaging 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. She has 22 steals and nine blocks while hitting 37.6 percent (32-of-85) from three-point range and 82.8 percent (48-of-58) at the foul line.
 
Morgan and the CSB Basketball team is seeded fifth and will travel to face Bethel in the MIAC Playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
