BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Sophia Jonas, who averaged 19.5 points and hit 55.6 percent on three-pointers in a pair of wins by the College of Saint Benedict Basketball this past week, has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

A sophomore accounting major from Hudson, Wis., Jonas earned her first career MIAC weekly honor in leading the Bennies to wins over St. Scholastic, 77-50, on the road and Augsburg, 82-68, at home. She is CSB's first basketball player named MIAC Player of the Week since Maddie Schmitz was honored on Feb. 8, 2021 and 29^th overall in program history.

In averaging 19.5 points, Jonas had games of 17 and 22 points while hitting 10-of-18 shots from three-point range for 55.6 percent. She made five three-pointers in back-to-back games for a career-first and now has had a career-best five made triples four times.

Jonas was on fire in both games as she tied her career-high for made threes in both games as she was 5-of-8 (6-of-13 overall) against St. Scholastica and 5-of-10 (8-of-15 overall) against Augsburg when she had her second career 20-point game. In addition, she averaged 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 steals.

The sophomore guard , who now has 13 double-digit games in her career, including four in five games this year, hit 14-of-28 shots from the field for 50 percent. She had five total rebounds, two assists and two steals. In the win at home over Augsburg, she finished just short of her career high of 23 points at St. Olaf on Jan. 10, 2022.

Jonas and the CSB Basketball team will face Macalester at home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Claire Lynch Hall.
