ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Senior goalie
Ally Frantzick, who helped lead the College of Saint Benedict's Hockey Team to a pair of MIAC wins this weekend, has been named the CSB Athletics Athlete of the Week.
Frantzick had a 2-0 record with 32 saves, or 1.0 goal per game average, in playing 119:56 across two matches. With her stellar work in the net, CSB defeated Concordia College – Moorhead, 3-2, on the road and 4-0 at home. The senior standout has helped St. Ben's to three straight wins, a 3-3 overall record as well as 2-0 mark in the MIAC (tied for 1st).
In the 3-2 win over Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., she stopped 17-of-19 shots. She faced six shots in the opening period and six and seven, respectively, over the final two periods.
In a 4-0 shutout on Saturday, Frantzick of Woodbury, Minn., had her second shutout in three matches and her fifth of her career. She stopped 13 shots, including six in the opening period and three and four, respectively, over the next periods as the CSB defense shined. She won her 10th career match and moved to 3-2-0 on the season.
In five starts this season, Frantzick has allowed nine goals or 1.79 per game, which ranks fifth in the MIAC. She has 86 saves (14.33 per game), which is third in the league with her .905 save percentage ranking her ninth in the MIAC.
An exercise and health science major, she has 822 career saves and played 1,574 minutes in 32 games. In 2019-20, she earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors and was CSB Hockey's Rooke of the Year.
