CSB tennis ends 2021 with sweep of Hamline

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team wrapped up the 2021 season with a sweep of Hamline Friday evening in St. Joseph.

The win marked the final collegiate tennis match for senior Kayla McIver.

"The players earned a win like today with the work they have put in all season," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We played well, and everything seemed to go our way. The night definitely belongs to our senior, Kayla. Kayla is the definition of what it means to be a Bennie and a college athlete. We are going to miss her like crazy, and I think everyone agrees this win goes to her for sure."

The Bennies started the match up 3-0 after sweeping doubles play. McIver teamed up with Lily Fredericks to win 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Peyton Kopel and Jane Bodensteiner won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Maria Bedford and Grace Lee also won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

McIver wrapped up her CSB tennis career with a win at No. 1 singles. She won her final collegiate match 6-0, 6-1.
