ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team puts a bow on the Spring 2021 season Wednesday, April 28, when it hosts Gustavus at 7 p.m. in Claire Lynch.
 
Not only is Wednesday the final match of the shortened season for CSB, it is also the final match in a Bennie uniform for the team's four seniors. Bridget McDonald, Katie Koch and Hunter and Madison Weiss have helped the program experience incredible success in their four seasons, and leave with some impressive numbers between them.

ABOUT THE GUSTIES
Gustavus is 2-1 overall and hasn't competed since defeating Hamline 3-1 on April 20. Kate Holtan leads the team and is eighth in the MIAC with 56 kills, and Kasie Tweet has 86 assists to pace the team's offense. On the defensive side of the ball, Hailey Embacher has a team-best 79 digs.
 
LAST MEETING
CSB snapped a two-match losing streak to the Gusties with a 3-1 win in St. Joseph in 2019. Gustavus won the first set, but the Bennies came back to win the next three in convincing fashion. Hunter Weiss had 17 kills, Madison Weiss had 12 kills and 11 blocks and Katie Koch had 41 assists. The Bennies hit an impressive .303 as a team.
 
THE STORYLINE
A few new faces stepped up for CSB on April 19 in the team's sweep of Saint Mary's. First year Olivia Thompson recorded a career-best 11 kills for the Bennies, who hit .230 as a team and finished the night with 45 kills. Fellow first year Ava Miller led CSB's defense at the net with three total blocks.
 
WHO TO WATCH:
Hunter and Madison Weiss both had double-digit kills to lead CSB's offense against the Cardinals, and Hunter finished the night with a .483 percentage after recording 14 kills and no errors. First year Emma Guest led the team defensively with a career-high 15 digs, and Katie Koch had a season-high 37 assists.
 
Both Hunter and Madison graduate with more than 1,000 kills to their names, Koch has more than 2,700 assists in her career and McDonald has 800 digs.
