NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict softball team helped head coach
Rachael Click etch her name in the program record books Saturday afternoon with its MIAC sweep of Carleton.

With CSB's 8-3 win over Carleton in Game 1 of the team's MIAC doubleheader, Click became the second coach in Saint Benedict softball history to reach the 200-win milestone. She is also the fastest to reach the milestone, having achieved the feat in her ninth season with the team.

Under Click's guidance, the Bennies have won 20 or more games in seven of her first eight seasons, and the one season CSB missed 20 wins was 2020, which was cut short due to the COVID19 pandemic. After winning 20 games in her first season with the program in 2013, Click and the Bennies won 28 in 2014, and her 2018 squad set the school record for wins in a season with 36 and made the program's third trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Click – who picked up her 100
th win on March 10, 2017, during the team's spring break trip to Florida against Husson University – is also 97-59 in MIAC play.

The first game of the day was a slug fest for the Bennies (12-2, 4-0), who had 12 hits – including five doubles and a trio of home runs. A solo homer from
Jordyn Swoboda started the scoring in the first inning,
Gabby Spencer added a solo homer in the fourth and Swoboda added another solo shot in the sixth inning.

After Swoboda's first homer, the Bennies added two more runs in the second on RBI singles from Spencer and
Mo Burns, and then scored all the runs they would need in the third when
Lexi Hanson hit an RBI single and then later came around to score on a wild pitch. Hanson later hit an RBI double to wrap up scoring for CSB in the sixth inning.

Swoboda and Hanson both finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Spencer was 2-for-5 with two RBIs to pace CSB.
Elly Novak picked up the win after giving up a single run on three hits with nine strikeouts in five innings of work, and
Grace Gilmore struck out two and gave up two runs – none earned – in the final two innings.

The Knights (0-2, 0-2) took a 3-0 lead thanks to an RBI fielder's choice and a pair of RBI singles in the third inning of the second game, but CSB exploded for seven runs in the sixth. Hanson added to her daily total with an RBI double,
Megan Rasmussen had an RBI single, Burns hit a two-run double and
Katie Carlson had an RBI double for the Bennies, who finished with five hits and took advantage of four Carleton errors.

Ally Hjort threw the first 5.1 innings and gave up three runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Novak took the circle for the final 1.2 innings and earned the save after striking out five batters and giving up a single hit.

CSB is back in action Sunday, April 11, when it heads to St. Peter for a MIAC doubleheader against Gustavus. Per Gustavus campus policy, no fans are allowed.
