ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team tied Augsburg in overtime on Feb. 27 in Minneapolis. The two teams weren't scheduled to play again, but COVID protocols knocked out both team's opponents, so the Bennies and Auggies get another shot at each other - this time on CSB's home ice in St. Cloud.
 
CSB hosts Augsburg at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the MAC in St. Cloud. Per MIAC policy no fans are allowed, but live stats and video are available here.
ABOUT THE AUGGIES
Saturday marks the third game in four days for Augsburg, which started the week with a big win over Bethel before losing a one-goal game to Saint Mary's. Lilia Scheid had a hat trick against the Royals and leads the team with three goals and five total points, and Kensie Malone has four assists. In net, Mara McClain has total 75 saves.
 
LAST MEETING
CSB and Augsburg played to a 1-1 overtime tie just one week ago in Minneapolis. Brynn Sexauer scored one minute into the game and the Auggies tied it up exactly one period later, and that's where the score stayed through 65 minutes of play. Maggie Gilchrist had a season-best 34 saves to preserve the tie.
 
THE STORYLINE
The Bennies are looking for their first win of 2021, and look to use what they learned last week against the Auggies to pick up that win Saturday at home. The team will need to put more shots on net - the Bennies had 16 shots on net to Augsburg's 35 in the two teams' first meeting - but if the offense can get going, a W should be right around the corner.
 
WHO TO WATCH:
Sexauer's early goal last weekend marked her team-leading third of the season. She leads the Bennies with five points and sophomore Rachel DeCesare has three so far in 2021. Senior Maria Wallace notched her second assist of the season Saturday at Augsburg. Gilchrist's big day in net bumped her season save total to 92, and dropped her GAA to 1.90.
