ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After two busy weekends, the College of Saint Benedict softball team plays one mid-week game this week and then has a week off before jumping into MIAC play on April 3 against Concordia.

Rainy weather Wednesday forced a reschedule, but CSB hosts UW-Stevens Point starting at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. Per CSB policy 150 fans are allowed in the grandstands, and fans are also welcome to sit outside the outfield fence. No concessions are available, but restrooms are open. Live stats and video are also available here.

Friday's game marks the final scheduled nonconference game for the Bennies in 2021.

ABOUT THE POINTERS
Stevens Point is 9-4 overall and bounced back from a weekend sweep with a 7-1 win over Wisconsin Lutheran Monday. Lauren Luedtke leads the team with 16 hits and a .372 average, and Sammy Buerger and Megan Lawrence both have eight RBIs. In the circle, Makenna Tkach has 50 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA, and three other pitchers have at least one win for the Pointers.

LAST MEETING
Wednesday's doubleheader marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2016 and just the sixth meeting since the early 1980s. Four of the five meetings have been at a neutral site in Florida on a spring break trip, and this is the first doubleheader between the teams.

THE STORYLINE
Big hits were the theme for the weekend as Saint Benedict went 3-1 against two Wisconsin rivals to improve to 6-2 overall. The team had 14 total hits Saturday - including four home runs - and added 25 more hits Sunday and six more home runs. After the weekend outburst, CSB leads the MIAC with 12 home runs - and the next closest team has just three. The NFCA took notice, and CSB jumped into the D3 Top 25 Coach's Poll at No. 24 Wednesday afternoon.

WHO TO WATCH:
Everyone got in on the home run action over the weekend. Katie Carlson and Gabby Spencer each had a trio of home runs while Lexi Hanson, Megan Rasmussen and Tori Harren each hit their first collegiate homer Sunday in Game 2 against Stout. Carlson and Spencer combined for 14 hits, six home runs and 13 RBIs. Elly Novak added 24 more Ks to her total in three appearances. Carlson, Spencer and Novak all made it into the Other Top Performances list when the NFCA announced its players of the week on Wednesday.
