WINONA, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team wrapped up the 2021 season with a 4-0 loss to Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon in Winona.
 
The Bennies put 31 shots on net, but couldn't get past the Cardinals' goalie in the season finale for both teams. Saint Benedict wraps up the season 0-7-2 overall.
 
Saint Mary's (2-5-2) scored all the goals it would need in the first period with a goal in the final two minutes of play. A second goal came midway through the second period, and the Cardinals tacked on two more in the third – including a power-play goal – to ice the win.
 
The Bennies put the pressure on in the fourth quarter with 16 shots – including six straight on a power play from Corrine Brown, Maria Wallace and Rachel DeCesare – but the Cardinals' goalie wouldn't budge. Wallace added two more shots a short time later on the power play, but couldn't find the back of the net.
 
Wallace finished with a team-high seven shots on net in her final game in a CSB uniform and Brown, a first year, added four. CSB had 31 shots on net to the Cardinals' 33. Maggie Gilchrist stopped 29 shots, including 12 in the third quarter.
