EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –
Ava Stinnett scored the second goal of her collegiate career Saturday afternoon, but that was the only goal the College of Saint Benedict scored in a 5-1 loss to UW-Eau Claire to wrap up the nonconference series.
The Blugolds (2-0) scored twice in the first and third periods to complete the sweep of the Bennies in Eau Claire, Wis. CSB is now 0-2 as it heads into its home opener this weekend.
Eau Claire got on the board less than four minutes into the game, and scored again on the power play exactly midway through the period. UWEC made it 3-0 at the 7:40 mark of the second period, and Stinnett's goal came at 16:08 to cut the gap to 3-1. Her second goal in a CSB uniform was unassisted. Eau Claire added two more goals in the third period – one on the power play and one with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Maggie Gilchrist made 25 saves for the Bennies, including 14 in the first period and 10 more in the third. Eau Claire outshot Saint Benedict 30-14. The Bennies put 11 shots on net in the second period. Sophomore
Brynn Sexauer led the team in shots for the second straight day as she put three on net.
CSB plays at home for the first time Friday, Nov. 5, when it hosts Concordia-Wisconsin at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud. The two teams play again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.
