ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team wrapped up its best season in nearly two decades Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to Saint Mary's.
The Bennies used a late goal to come away with a 1-0 win Friday night, but couldn't muster any of that same late-game magic Saturday. CSB scored midway through the third to tie the game at 1-1, but the Cardinals scored three unanswered goals in the final six minutes of the period to come away with the win.
Saint Benedict wraps up the season 11-12-1 overall and 6-12 in the MIAC. That marks the most wins for the team since 2001-02 the most MIAC wins since 2014-15. Along the way this season, the team picked up its first sweep since 2016-17, and at one point was unbeaten for five games – the longest unbeaten stretch for the team since at least 2002-03.
After a scoreless first period, the Cardinals – who secured the fifth and final seed in the MIAC Tournament with the win – scored on the power play at the 15:17 mark of the second period.
Rylan Bistodeau notched her ninth goal of the season in the eighth minute of the third off an assist from
Myka Stave to tie the game at 1-1, but that's as close as the Bennies would get.
SMU scored the eventual game-winner at the 13:49 mark, and added goals in the 16
th and 19
th minute to come away with the win.
CSB finished with 23 shots on net to the Cardinals' 39.

Courtney Conlin led the team with five shots on net.
Saturday's contest marked the final game for the team's three seniors: Conlin,
Mollie Wise and
Erica Borrell. All three were four-year members of the program.
