CSB continues busy stretch with road game against Cobbers

| By:
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a 59-49 win against Saint Mary's Monday, the College of Saint Benedict Basketball team hits the road as it travels to Moorhead to play Concordia College on Wednesday, Jan. 22. It is the Cobbers' Coaches vs. Cancer night, and game time is set for 7:15 pm.

About the Cobbers
Concordia is 6-8 overall this year with the bulk of their loses coming at the beginning of the season. In conference play they are 4-5, with one loss coming from Saint Benedict earlier this season. They will be coming into Wednesday's game with some momentum as they beat 21-ranked Gustavus 75-65 last Wednesday. Mary Sem is the cobber's leading scorer with 213 points, averaging 15.2 per game. Autumn Thompson, Emily Beseman are both averaging double digits in scoring.

Last Meeting
These teams have already met earlier this season in Claire Lynch hall, and CSB won 82-67 – the first MIAC victory of the season for the Bennies. The Bennies kept a solid lead throughout the game with help from 23 turnovers to keep the lead. Megan Thompson had 23 points and Maddie Schmitz had 18. In the past, CSB is 40-24 against the Cobbers and they are 15-15 in away games, averaging 70 points per game.

Storyline
With only 10 games left in the regular season, CSB is hoping to find a rhythm starting with Wednesday night's game. After starting the season with six wins and then losing six, CSB 4-6 in the conference and 8-7 overall. Saint Benedict is hoping that its win against Saint Mary's can give the team momentum to continue to build off of. This weekend, Saint Bens travels to Northfield to play Carleton on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Who to Watch
There are four players for CSB that average eight or more points per game, led by Megan Thompson at 11.8 points per game. Sidney Schiffler (10.5), Alex Johnson (9.0) and Maddie Schmitz (8.5) have also chipped in and helped lead the team's offense. The CSB offense is very versatile and they have many players who can make things happen, and Wednesday they are hoping to continue to move the ball and create turnovers on defense.
