CSB hockey heads to Concordia for two games

MOORHEAD, Minn – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team is heading up to Moorhead, Minn., this weekend for a pair of games against Concordia. CSB is hoping to turn things around from after losing a pair of games against Bethel last weekend. Game times are 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
 
About the Cobbers
Concordia has had five games so far this season, and sits with a 3-2 record. The Cobbers' losses come from CSB and Saint Marys. The Cobbers played Northland, beating them both nights in overtime and they split with Saint Marys this past weekend losing 4-3 and wining 3-1. They are averaging 29.8 shots per game with 12 goals overall for the team. Ally Witala has three goals for the team and Maiah McCowan has two goals so far. Kiana Flaig has a .939 save percentage for the Cobbers with 107 saves.
 
Last Meeting
CSB and Concordia have already met up this season, playing in a nonconference game in the first game of the season for both teams. The Bennies won 3-1, scoring two goals in the first period within 40 seconds of each other and one goal in the third. Courtney Conlin, Julia Pias and Mollie Wise all scored, and Maggie Gilchrist picked up the win in net. Overall against Concordia CSB is 4-25-7, including and 2-13-3 in away games.
 
Story Line
The CSB hockey team is looking to turn things around after a pair of losses this past weekend to Bethel. With a promising game against Concordia in their season opener, the Bennies are hoping to get two wins on the road. The Cobbers have had a good season with only one other loss to Saint Marys. This will be an important weekend for the Bennies, they have proved they can beat the Cobbers, but they will now need to show they can do it on the road.
 
Who to Watch
Mollie Wise, Julie Pias, and Courtney Conlin all had goals against Concordia this season. Wise also had a goal this past weekend against Bethel. The CSB team has a lot of young players stepping up with leadership from their veteran players. In net Maggie Gilchrist has a .943 save percentage with 50 saves.
