CSB welcomes back 1998-99 team as basketball hosts Oles

| By:
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Saturday's game against St. Olaf is a special one for the College of Saint Benedict basketball program as it welcomes back members of the 1998-99 team. This season marks the 20th anniversary of the squad's national runner-up finish - the best national team finish in CSB history. Members of the team and their families are in attendance at today's game – which tips off at 1 p.m. in Claire Lynch – and the former CSB athletes will be recognized at halftime.

ABOUT THE OLES
St. Olaf (5-9, 2-5) heads into Saturday's game looking to snap a three-game losing streak, including a tough loss to Macalester Wednesday. Makenna Ash leads the MIAC in rebounds per game (12.3) and K'Lynn Lewis leads the team and is eighth in the league with 13.9 points per game. Ash also averages double digits in scoring at 11.5 points per game.

LAST MEETING
CSB (7-7, 3-4) didn't give up more than 35 points to the Oles in the season sweep last season. Saint Benedict won 52-34 at home in December, then beat St. Olaf 58-33 in February in Northfield. Megan Thompson had a career-high 18 points in the December win.

THE STORYLINE
Saint Benedict picked up a big road win Wednesday against Gustavus against a Gustie team that was 6-1 at home heading into the matchup. The win also secured CSB's first sweep of the Gusties since 2010-11. CSB looks to use that momentum to gain some footing and move up in the MIAC standings.

WHO TO WATCH
Junior Alex Johnson pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds to help CSB in its win at Gustavus Wednesday. Both Megan Thompson (15 points) and Maddie Schmitz (13) scored in double digits, and Breanna Gates had six assists. Johnson is fourth in the league with 7.9 rebounds per game, and she is also fifth with a .494 field-goal percentage.
