ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – In its one and only outdoor home match of the 2018 season, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team fell 9-0 to St. Kate's Friday afternoon in St. Joseph.
With one match remaining in the regular season, Saint Benedict is now 12-9 overall and tied for eighth in the MIAC at 3-6. The top six teams earn a spot in the conference tournament.
Tessa Rahrick and
Kayla McIver were within 4-3 at No. 1 doubles midway through the match, but fell 8-4.
Ellen Stensrud and
Mackenzie Schurhamer fell 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and
Erin Kolbow and
Lauren Clark hung right with the Widlcats (11-5, 4-5), but fell 8-6.
Rahrick played a close match at No. 1 singles, but fell 6-2, 7-5. Kolbow lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, and Stensrud fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. McIver lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Schurhamer fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 and
Kylie Miller fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
CSB wraps up the 2018 regular season Saturday, April 28, when it travels to Northfield to take on St. Olaf. CSB and the Oles are currently tied in the MIAC standings at 3-6.
