CSB on the road to take on Wildcats Wednesday

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After holding on for a three-point win against Gustavus Saturday to open the MIAC season, the College of Saint Benedict basketball team looks to pick up its second conference win of the year Wednesday when it hits the road to take on St. Kate's.
 
Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday on the St. Kate's campus in St. Paul.
 
About the Wildcats
St. Kate's enters Wednesday's game 2-4 overall and coming off a loss to No. 3 St. Thomas to kick off the MIAC season. Sam Orth (21), Danica Cambrice (18) and Audra Clark (14) all scored double digits against the Tommies. Clark (17.3), Cambrice (17.0) and Orth (14.2) all average double digits in scoring, and Jackie Radford leads the team with 10 rebounds per game. Orth also averages 8.2 rebounds per game for St. Kate's, which has wins against UW-River Falls and Northland.
 
Last Meeting
Saint Benedict dominated the only meeting between the two teams last season winning 75-47 in St. Joseph. The team led 46-21 at halftime en route to the win. Sidney Schiffler had 13 points and Megan Thompson finished with nine, and Schiffler also had four steals. CSB shot 44 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to a 30 percent clip.
 
The Storyline
Saturday's win against the Gusties snapped a two-game losing streak for CSB and got the team's conference season off to a solid start. CSB looks to push that record to 2-0, while St. Kate's is hoping to pick up a conference win to gain some momentum before the holiday break.
 
Who to Watch
Maddie Schmitz, Thompson and McKenzie Holgate all scored in double-digits Saturday, and Schmitz had a double-double with 11 rebounds. Thompson is currently 10th in the league in scoring at 14.5 points per game, and both Schmitz (11.7) and Alex Johnson (10.0) also average double digits. Thompson scored a career-high 19 points against Concordia last week, and has scored in double digits in all six of the team's games so far this season.
