ST. PAUL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team won nine events Saturday afternoon and finished first out of four teams at the Hamline Invite.
Mallory Jarvi and
Ashley Groebner each won two individual events,
Mikayla Von Wahlde won one individual event and was part of two winning relays and
Meghan Kratz had one individual win and one relay win to lead CSB.
"The team has a hard week of practice, but was able to have a good meet racing today," head coach
Dan Eckberg said. "We scored a good amount of points with people in events they normally don't swim, so that is very encouraging."
Jarvi picked up wins in both the one- and three-meter diving competitions Saturday in St. Paul. She won the one-meter board with a score of 215.85, and the three-meter competition with a mark of 228.75.
Kylie Egger finished third in the one-meter competition with a score of 175.85 and fifth in the three-meter.
Lisa Pahr took fifth on the one-meter board and
Kathryn Ellingson was fourth on the three-meter board.
Groebner won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke, and was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team. She won the 200 IM in 2:22.99, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.22. She teamed with Von Wahlde,
Ana Birklid and
Zoe Allyson to win the 200 medley relay in 1:55.02.
Von Wahlde won the 100 free in 56.25 seconds, and was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team. She and Birklid, Allyson and Kratz won the relay in 1:45.53. Kratz also won the 500 freestyle for CSB in 5:43, and
Morgan Gerhardt won the 1,000 free in 11:39.96. On top of three wins, Von Wahlde also took second in the 200 free in 2:03.01, and Birklid also had a pair of individual runner-up finishes to go with two relay wins. Birklid took second in the 50 free in 26.03 seconds and in the 100 free in 57.47 seconds.
Hannah Svihel took second in the 200 IM in 2:30, and
Andrea Molus was right behind in third in 2:30.31.
Grace Livermore took second in the 100 fly (1:07.46) and Svihel finished third (1:09.60), and
Sydney Weires also had a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.12.
Gerhardt took second in the 500 free in 5:43.12, and
Izzy Sonday took third in 5:47.81.
Morgan Murphy took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.86, Sonday finished third in the 1,000 free in 11:48.51,
Lauren Christiansen finished third in the 200 free (2:11.96) and Allyson took third in the 50 free in 26.30 seconds.
CSB is back in action Saturday, Nov. 10, when it heads to Macalester for the Roger Ahlman Invite.
