Mallory Jarvi completes a dive at the Macalester Pentathlon

Von Wahlde, Jarvi pick up wins for CSB swim and dive

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Mallory Jarvi and Mikayla Von Wahlde both picked up individual wins for the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team Saturday afternoon to help CSB finish fourth and the Minnesota teams beat the Wisconsin teams at the Minnesota/Wisconsin Border Battle, hosted by St. Thomas.

Jarvi finished first in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 225.95, and she also took second on the one-meter board with a mark of 205.90.

Von Wahlde – a first year – continued to impress in the beginnings of her collegiate swimming career. After setting the school record in the 100 IM in the first meet of her CSB career, she recorded the third-best 100 and 200 backstroke times in school history Saturday, and won both events. She won the 100 backstroke in 59.32 seconds and the 200 backstroke in 2:09.39.

"The team had an amazing meet today," head coach Dan Eckberg said. "We had some tough goals both individually and as a team, and the team stepped up and crushed those goals. We have a few individuals who weren't able to compete due to injury, and they did a great job supporting and cheering so it was a very successful day as a team."

Teammate Lauren Christiansen took sixth in the 200 back (2:17.89) and 13th in the 100 back (1:04.53), and Nicole Lefebvre finished 13th in the 200 back in 2:25.49. Ashley Groebner also secured a pair of top-10 finishes, taking second in the 200 breaststroke and third in the 100 breaststroke. She finished the 200 in 2:33.36 and the 100 in 1:09.30. Morgan Murphy finished 10th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:47.52.

Sophomore Zoe Allyson finished sixth in the 50 free in 25.93 seconds, and first year Kylie Egger had two top-10 finishes in the diving competition. She took ninth on the one-meter board with a mark of 180.90 and seventh in the three-meter competition with a score of 191.95. Lisa Pahr took 10th in the one-meter competition with a score of 177.00.

Claudia Mahoney finished 11th in the 100 free (57.61), Meghan Kratz took 12th (57.77) and Skyler Clough took 15th (59.43). Kratz also finished 13th in the 200 free in 2:06.02. Morgan Gerhardt finished 13th in the 500 free in 5:35.70, and Grace Livermore (1:06.92) and Hannah Svihel (1:08.32) took 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 100 fly. Von Wahlde, Kratz, Allyson and Mahoney teamed up to take fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:47.08.

CSB returns to St. Paul Saturday, Nov. 3, for the Hamline Invite.
