ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball is heading into a busy weekend as it travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the Coe Tournament. After a big sweep of Augsburg Wednesday, CSB looks to use that momentum to its advantage in a big weekend of three non-conference games. CSB is scheduled to play tournament host Coe College at 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, CSB plays Cornell College at noon and UW-La Crosse at 2 p.m.
About The Kohawks
Coe College heads into the weekend 15-6 overall and 3-1 at home. Adysen Wintermote leads the team with 230 kills followed closely by Lindsey Koch with 227 kills and Eli Teeple averages 9.58 assists per set for a total of 690 assists.
About The Rams
Cornell College has won six of its last seven games, including a 3-0 win at Knox College, as it heads into this weekend. Cornell is 10-7 overall and 1-2 on neutral courts. Jillian Schulte leads the team with 656 assists, Sydney Meeker has 299 digs, and Nicole Ciari has 253 kills.
About The Eagles
UW-La Crosse has lost its last two games, including a 3-2 loss to Gustavus, but the Eagles have a 12-9 record overall and are 8-3 on neutral courts as they head into their matchup against CSB. Abbey Fox leads the team with 588 assists, Julia Van Fleet has 406 digs, Kathryn Maas has 47 total blocks, and Emma Lawrence and Marisa Johnson both have more than 200 kills.
The Storyline
Wednesday's sweep of Augsburg pushed CSB's record to 17-5 and 7-0 in the MIAC. CSB will face its final three non-conference opponents of the season this weekend, before a final stretch of four MIAC games. On a four-game win streak, CSB looks to stay hot this weekend as it gears up to make its push for a MIAC regular-season championship.
Who to Watch:
Junior libero
Haley LaValle won MIAC Setter/Libero of the Week honors Monday after recording a career-high 34 digs last Friday at Bethel. She is the first non-setter to win the award for CSB since 2012.
Madison Weiss and
Hunter Weiss are both in the top ten in the MIAC in kills and in the top three in the league in total blocks,
Katie Koch is second in the league in assists per set, and LaValle leads the MIAC in digs.
Madison Weiss had a career-high 17 kills Wednesday in the team's sweep of Augsuburg.
