Miller scores in loss to Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team started its weekend road trip with a 4-1 loss to Concordia Friday night. The two teams were tied early in the second period, but a late second-period goal and a pair of third-period goals pushed the Cobbers to the win in Moorhead.

Concordia scored first on a power play in the 13th minute of the first period to go up 1-0, and that's where the score stayed until the sixth minute of the second when Brigette Miller scored her sixth goal of the season. The goal – which also came on a power play – was assisted by Maddie Dockry and Riley Schneider.

The two teams looked like they would head into the third period tied, but the Cobbers (8-6-2, 5-2-2) scored the eventual game-winner with 17 seconds left in the period on another power play. Concordia added goals in the fourth and sixth minutes of the final period to pull away for the win.

Concordia had 34 shots on net to CSB's 28, and first year goalie Kailee Medved had 30 saves in the loss. Courtney Conlin, Mollie Wise and Schneider each finished with four shots on net and Miller and Shelby Schneider each had three.

CSB is now 2-12-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the MIAC. The two teams play again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in Moorhead.
