ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team returns to St. Joseph Friday after three wins on the road. CSB hosts the Bethel University Royals on at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.
About Bethel
Bethel had a strong four-game win streak until last Saturday, when the Royals fell 3-1 to St. Olaf. The Royals are 11-3 overall and 3-2 in MIAC play this season. Last season, Bethel finished 6-5 in conference play and 19-11 overall. The Royals are led by Kristin Stern with 178 kills and 40 blocks, Mikayla Morrow with 355 assists, and 243 digs by Dominique Dabu.
Last Year
CSB brought a five-set win home from Arden Hills, Minn., last year. Leading Saint Benedict were
Briana Schmiesing with 13 kills,
Haley LaValle with 22 digs, and
Megan Pekarek with 55 assists.
Who to Watch
Leading CSB's offense is first year right side
Hunter Weiss with 167 kills and 37 blocks, followed by
Liz Schultz with 148 kills and 26 serving aces. Middle blocker
Madison Weiss continues to be CSB's first line of defense with 60 blocks. Setter
Megan Pekarek has 557 assists, and sophomore defensive specialist
Haley LaValle tops the team with 233 digs.
The Storyline
With five consecutive shutouts in the past two weeks, the CSB volleyball team is looking strong. They look to continue the streak on Friday at home after three games on the road. The team has a 4-1 MIAC record and 10-6 overall. CSB heads back on the road Saturday, Oct. 7 to the UW-Eau Claire Tournament.
