COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team hosted its first home dual of the season Saturday afternoon when Carleton College came to town. CSB picked up one win and 12 runner-up finishes against the Knights, who defeated CSB 194-104 in Collegeville, Minn.
Amy Nemanich won the 1,650 freestyle to lead Saint Benedict. She finished the race in 19:29.42, and teammate
Morgan Murphy finished second in 19:54.85. Murphy also took second in the 500 freestyle in 5;41.15, and Nemanich finished third in 5:44.54.
Katie Heller and
Ashley Groebner also had a pair of runner-up finishes for Saint Benedict. She took second in the 50 free in 25.53 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.22 seconds.
Meghan Kratz took third in the 100 free in 57.46 seconds and in the 200 free in 2:05.05.. Groebner took second in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.59) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.88).
Kaylee O'Connell took third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.17.
Maggie Pomerenke finished second in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 210.55 and
Mallory Jarvi finished third with a mark of 197.40. Jarvi also took second in three-meter board (193.65) and
Brianna Lovato took third (152.85).
Kristina Rudin finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.62 and
Lauren Christiansen took second in the 200 backstroke in 2:18.68. Rudin and Heller teamed up with
Allyson Lidtke and
Meghan Harder to take second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.75, and
Sydney Weires, Groebner, Rudin and Heller finished second in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.06.
Saint Benedict is back at home Friday, Jan. 27, when it hosts Gustavus at 6 p.m. at the Warner Palestra Pool on the SJU campus.
