Live Stats/Video

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team closes out the 2016 portion of its schedule this week when it travels to Washington, D.C., for a pair of games at the Jamie Lynn Roberts-Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic.

The Schedule
CSB starts the classic Thursday, Dec. 29, when it takes on Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham at 1 p.m. EDT (noon CDT). Depending on the outcome of the first game, CSB takes on either Washington & Jefferson or host-school Catholic University Friday, Dec. 30, to wrap up the classic.

About the Opponents
FDU Florham, like CSB, is also 7-2, but has won five straight heading into this week's classic, including a pair of wins in Miami just before the holidays. Four players average double digits for the Devils, including Kendrea Williams, who averages 18 points per game. Alyssa McDonough leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per game.

Catholic is 8-1, and started the year on a six-game winning streak before picking up its first loss. Michelle DeSantis leads the team with 15.4 points per game. Washington & Jefferson is 5-3 and has lost two of its last three games. Amirah Moore leads the Presidents in scoring at 14.5 points per game.

About CSB
After starting the season 7-0 for the first time since 2002-03, Saint Benedict lost its last two games before Christmas break, including a 60-52 loss at UW-Eau Claire on Dec. 13. Chelsey Guetter leads the team in both scoring (10.9) and rebounding (7.4), and Niki Fokken also averages 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Alison Newton also averages 8.3 points per game and leads the team with 2.4 assists per game.

The Storyline
After a hot start, CSB looks to get back on track this week in D.C. before getting back into MIAC play next Wednesday against Concordia. Saint Benedict, which has had five different scoring leaders in nine games so far this season, needs its offense to get back to the consistency that it was used to in the first seven games of the season. These two games mark the end of nonconference play for CSB, which gets back to its normal Wednesday/Saturday play schedule starting next week.
