ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team looks to bounce back from Wednesday's tough loss at St. Thomas this weekend when it travels to Minneapolis Saturday, Jan. 16, for a 3 p.m. game at Augsburg College.

About the Auggies
Augsburg heads into Saturday 8-6 overall and 3-4 in the MIAC and looking to keep a three-game winning streak alive. The Auggies are coming off a 58-56 upset win against Bethel on Wednesday. Jessica Lillquist hit a layup with five seconds left to seal the win. Augsburg also has MIAC wins against Carleton and Hamline. Maria Loughlin leads the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game, and Bridget Bednar (8.4) and Lillquist (8.3) each average at least eight points per game. Hannah Steinhaus leads the team in rebounds per game (5.9) and Loughlin has 45 total assists.

Last Year
Augsburg beat the Blazers 47-37 in the only meeting between the two teams last year on Feb. 18 in St. Joseph. The win knocked CSB out of the playoff race and gave the Auggies their first-ever berth in the MIAC postseason tournament. Alison Newton had eight points and Niki Fokken led the team with 12 rebounds.

The Storyline: With a conference record of 4-3, the Blazers will be heading into their game looking to regain their momentum after winning two of their last three games. The Auggies have also won three conference games in a row, so each team will be fighting to keep momentum alive as they head into the middle of their conference season. The Blazers will also be fighting to take their fourth road win of the season as they currently sit with a 3-2 record on the road.

Last Time Out: In their last game, the Blazers suffered a tough 36-54 loss to the No.19 ranked Tommies. After finishing the first quarter down by a score of 8-7, the Blazers took a 4-0 run to start the second quarter and jumped ahead by a score of 11-8. From here, the two teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the half until the Tommies pulled ahead with a big 13-1 run. This set the score at 25-14 heading into the second half. After a 6-0 run by the Blazers early in the third quarter, the score sat at 29-22 with the Tommies in the lead. The Tommies then continued to extend their lead until they finished the third quarter with a 40-24 lead. After a close fourth quarter, the Tommies added another two points to their lead and finished the night with a 54-36 win. Fokken lead the Blazers with 11 points and three blocks as Newton and Dittberner finished the night with nine and six points respectively.

Who to Watch: Fokken currently leads the Blazers with 9.9 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game as Dittberner averages another 8.9 points in each game. Dittberner and Newton each average 2.5 assists per game and Grace Wolhowe is currently leading the MIAC with a .500 three-point percentage.
