No. 8 Falcons too much for CSB hockey

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team wrapped up nonconference play with an 11-1 loss to UW-River Falls Wednesday night in River Falls, Wis.
 
The No. 8 Falcons scored four times in the first period, once in the second and added six more goals in the final period. The Blazers (3-9-1) scored their lone goal at the 5:22 mark of the second period to make it 4-1. Elli Marvin scored the goal off an assist from Maddie Rainey. Marvin is second on the team with four goals. Sophomore Brigette Miller teams the Blazers with five goals this season.
 
River Falls had 48 shots on net to the Blazers' 18. Senior Dory Johnson played the first 33 minutes of the game in net and stopped 28 shots. Sophomore Veronica Sinell made her collegiate debut for the final 27 minutes and stopped nine shots.
 
CSB returns to MIAC play Friday, Jan. 15, when it travels to Northfield, Minn., for a 7:30 p.m. game against St. Olaf. The Blazers are back at home at 1:45 p.m. Saturday when they host the Oles at the MAC in St. Cloud.
