JOSEPH, Minn. – After suffering a close 56-55 loss to Carleton College on Saturday, the College of Saint Benedict basketball team returns home Wednesday, Feb. 18, for its last home game of the season. The Blazers, who are currently siting with a record of 11-12, face off against Augsburg at 7 p.m. in Claire Lynch Hall.
Wednesday's game has huge playoff implications as the two teams are tied for sixth in the MIAC with identical 8-8 conference records. The top six teams at the end of the regular season earn a spot in the postseason tournament.
Busy Night: Besides being a key game for MIAC standings, there are plenty of other festivities surrounding Wednesday's game. It is Parent's Night for the Blazers, and players will recognize their parents and other supporters during the pregame. The CSB dance team is schedule to perform at halftime, and after the game the Blazers' three seniors –
Emily Lueck,
Elena Koch and
Jordan Falk – will be honored. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game to support breast cancer awareness.
About the Auggies: They Auggies are currently sitting with a record of 13-10 and have gone 8-8 in conference play this season. The Auggies have won three of their last four games which includes an 83-77 overtime win against St. Kate's. With only two games remaining in the season, the Auggies will be looking to take advantage of their last few conference matchups. Tonight's game is especially big for Augsburg as it hasn't made the MIAC playoffs since the current postseason tournament system was put in place in 2001-02.
Last Year: Last season, the Blazers faced the Auggies twice in one week. In both games, the Auggies walked away with wins. In the first game, the Blazers lost by a score of 64-56 as
Mattie Lueck led the team with 12 points and seven rebounds. In the second game,
Annie Dittberner led the offense with eight points as the Blazers fell by a score of 61-45.
The Storyline: Both teams are sitting with a conference record of 8-8 with two remaining conference games each. This means that both teams will be fighting hard to finish the season with a winning conference records as well as momentum into their final game of the season. The two teams are currently ranked No. 6 in the MIAC, and whoever wins this matchup earns sole possession of the sixth spot.

Mattie Lueck is leading the Blazers with 15.0 points per game and 7.3 overall rebounds.
Abby Miller also adds 8.1 points per game and leads the team with a .778 free-throw percentage.
Niki Fokken is also averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and 6.2 points per game.
Last Time Out: In their last time out, the Blazers fell to the Knights of Carleton in a tough 56-55 loss. After the Blazers led at halftime by a score of 29-17 and leading for almost all of the second half, the Knights took a 54-53 lead with 32 seconds left in the game. The Blazers then responded by taking a 55-54 lead, But the Knights scored again with two seconds remaining and finished the night with the win. Fokken led the offense with 15 points and totaled seven rebounds on the night.
Mattie Lueck also finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
