MOORHEAD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team lost 2-0 to Concordia College Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.
The loss is the second in a row for the Blazers, who are now 6-6-2 overall and 4-4 in the MIAC. Saint Benedict is tied for fifth in the MIAC with Carleton, the Cobbers and St. Catherine.
Both teams had chances to score early in the game, but neither capitalized until the 24
th minute when Concordia's Alexandra Jones scored off an assist from Abby Vogelsberg. The Blazers had the chance to tie the score on a shot by
Reina Nelson in the 39
th minute, but Elizabeth Bitzan made the save for the Cobbers.
Concordia added another goal to its total five minutes into the second half when Emily Wendorff scored in the 50
th minute.
Olivia Musser had back-to-back shots a few minutes later, but both were saved by the Cobbers.
Gracie Vaughan and
Aly Hoffman each had a shot on net in the second half, but neither were able to capitalize.
The Blazers outshot Concordia 11-8, but the Cobbers had seven shots on goal to CSB's six.
Heather Kaluzniak made five saves for Saint Benedict.
The Blazers are back in action and return home Saturday, Oct. 24, when they host Hamline University at 3:30 p.m.
