About the Gusties:
After posting a losing losing nonconference record and being picked to finish next-to-last in the conference, the Gusties have been the Cinderella team in the MIAC in 2015. Most recently, they defeated No. 19 Augsburg. They are led by an offense that is second-best in the conference with 1.8 goals per conference match and the conference's leading goal scorer in Ackiss. Their sole conference hiccup was a 3-4 loss to Carleton in Northfield.
Â
Storyline:
Currently tied with four other teams for fourth-place in the conference, the Blazers have a chance to get a win that will separate themselves from the middle of the pack in the MIAC. A win would move them into a tie with Gustavus and Augsburg for second-place, and put them just one point behind conference-leading St. Thomas. A loss today means the Blazers will likely be chasing conference leaders the rest of the way.
Â
Last Year:
In 2014, the Gusties came to Saint Ben's in late September and were shutout by the Blazers. Taylor Hedin scored the match's first goal in the 31st minute, scoring off a pass from Gracie Vaughan. Early in the second half, Vaughan and Jenna Kleason both scored within 25 second of each other, and the Blazers rolled to their eighth victory of the season. The Blazers outshot the Gusties 26-8 in that contest.
