Box ScoreMENOMONIE, Wis. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team won its third consecutive game and picked up its third straight shutout Sunday afternoon when it beat the University of Wisconsin-Stout 2-0 in Menomonie, Wis.

The Blazers are now 3-1 overall heading into their first home game of the season. CSB plays its first home contest of 2014 Saturday, Sept. 13.

St. Ben's and UW-Stout (1-1) were scoreless throughout much of the first half, but
Peggy Renier broke the tie and scored the eventual game-winner in the 38
th minute. The unassisted goal was the first of the season for Renier.

The Blazers held their 1-0 lead until the 73
rd minute when
Gracie Vaughan added a second goal for CSB off an assist from
Brooke DeMets, marking DeMets' first collegiate point.

Heather Kaluzniak played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blazers and stopped all five shots she faced to preserve the shutout. The Blue Devils outshot Saint Benedict 10-9, but the Blazers held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
Megan Lenz recorded two shots on goal to lead CSB.

The Blazers are back in action Saturday, Sept. 13, when they play their first home game of the year. St. Ben's takes on Wartburg (Iowa), at 12:30 p.m. on the Saint John's University soccer practice field in Collegeville, Minn. CSB is also at home at noon on Sunday, Sept. 14, when it plays Loras College, which beat CSB in the NCAA Tournament in 2013.
