UW-Superior Box ScoreOSHKOSH, Wis. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team pushed its winning streak to three games Friday afternoon with a pair of victories on the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Classic in Oshkosh, Wis.
The Blazers improved to 5-2 overall after beating UW-Superior 3-0 and Dominican University 3-1. The pair of wins puts head coach
Nicole Hess three wins away from her 100
th win at Saint Benedict. She is 97-37 in her fifth season with the program.
Saint Benedict dominated in its sweep of UW-Superior. The Yellowjackets kept the game close in the first set, but the Blazers rallied for a 26-24 victory. CSB won the second set 25-16, and held Superior to six points in the third and final set in route to a 25-6 victory.

Victoria Nass served 11 straight points in the third set, pushing the score from 5-1 to 16-1. The Blazers had a .455 hitting percentage in the third set and held Superior to a -.237 percentage.
Laura Schmitt finished the match with 14 kills and 11 digs.
Mary Franz added 11 kills, four block assists and three solo blocks and
Sophie Stangl added 10 kills.
Lexi Rinde also had four block assists for the Blazers, who had 10 team blocks.
Taya Kockelman finished with 39 assists and Nass led the way for CSB with 17 digs.
Meghan Koop also added 10 digs.
The Blazers started the day with a 3-1 win against Dominican. Saint Benedict won the first set 25-20, but the Stars, who are 3-4 overall, came back to win the second set 25-15. Saint Ben's held on for a 25-23 win in the third set to pull ahead 2-1, and came out and won the fourth set 25-15.
Schmitt and Rinde both finished with 10 kills to lead CSB, which had 46 total kills. Stangl and Franz each added seven kills. Kockelman paced the offense with 35 assists, and Nass had a game-high 27 digs. Schmitt also finished with 21 digs and
Kelly Davenport added 11.
The Blazers are back in action in Oshkosh for a pair of games Saturday morning, Sept. 13. Saint Benedict plays Concordia Wisconsin at 10 a.m. and Maranatha Baptist at noon. CSB returns home and opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday, Sept. 17, when it hosts Macalester at 7 p.m.
