Clermont, Fla. – The Saint Benedict softball team kept right on rolling along on Thursday (Mar. 6) with a 5-2 win over Adrian (Mich.). The Blazers second game of the day, against Lebanon Valley (Pa.), was cancelled due to rain.
 
The Blazers (7-2) were methodical in their win, scoring one run each in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
 
Emily Engelmeier (South St. Paul, Minn.) started and got her fourth win, pitching four shutout innings, while allowing just one hit. Now 4-0 on the season, Engelmeier hasn't allowed a run in three straight games.
 
Lexi Alm (Stacy, Minn.) led the offense with a 3-for-4 day, scoring three times while adding three stolen bases. Stacy Svihel (Cold Spring, Minn.) went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and drove in two more.
 
Six different player finished with a hit on the day.
 
The Bulldogs (4-3) meanwhile were held to just three hits on the day, and were kept off the board until the seventh inning.
 
Now winners of three straight, and boasting a 5-2 mark in Florida, the Blazers will look for two more wins on Friday (Mar. 7) when they take on Susquehana (Pa.) and Grove City (Pa.). They'll close out their spring trip with two more games on Saturday.
