About the Cardinals:
After winning the conference and advancing to the Division III Frozen Four last year, the Falcons were picked to win the conference again in 2015. They return three All-WIAC players from 2014 in Kinsel (HM), Senior defender Sam Greeley (1st), sophomore defender Paige Johnson (1st). Their only losses this season have come at the hands of No. 8 UW-Stevens Point and Bethel University. Their key to success is a high-octane offense that is averaging 4.5 goals per game.
Â
Storyline:
After being swept by Saint Mary's, can the Blazers rebound against a nationally ranked team? Although the Blazers are not nationally ranked, it is unwise to bet against Blazer Head Coach Jen Kranz in big games. After she brilliantly orchestrated the Blazers' toppling of No. 7 Gustavus last year, tomorrow will be her first opportunity to outplay a nationally ranked team this year.
Â
Last Time Out:
The weekend before Thanksgiving (Nov. 21 and Nov. 22) the Blazers traveled to Winona and dropped two games to the St. Mary's Cardinals. In the Friday night edition the Blazers took a 2-1 lead into the third period, but gave up two goals in the third to lose the game 2-3. On Saturday the Cardinals shutout the Blazers, with a 2-0 final score. The Blazers were outshot over the two games by a 43-to-33 margin.
