Back in Action: The Blazer swimming and diving team is back after nearly a month off. They returned from their training trip in Florida early Friday morning, and turn right around to host Carleton today (Jan. 12). The dual meet begins with diving at 11:15 a.m., with swimming set to begin at 12 p.m.

About Carleton: Just yesterday, the Knights hosted MIAC rival Gustavus, falling 185-108 as the Gusties won all but five of the 16 events. The Knights are still looking for their first win of the season, currently 0-2 in dual meets while also finishing third at an early season triangular and 10th at the SCSU invite. However, Carleton does boast some of the MIAC top performers, including Sophie Pilhofer who holds the league's best 50-free time at 23.80, as well as the best 100-fly mark at 58.78. Pilhofer is also second currently in the 100-free.

Last Season: The Blazers took a 189-111 victory over the Knights in dual meet action last season, winning in 11 events. Alissa Lager swept the boards, while Maria Gathje took the top spot in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. In the 200-fly, and both the 100 and 200-breaststroke, the Blazers swept the top-three spots.

Senior Salute: With today's meet, it will mark the final competition in the Palestra Pool for the Blazers five seniors. Kate Kaiser, Samantha Kessler, Isabel Pennings, Nicole Reza and Mary Wood will all dive in for the last time.

Top of the MIAC: The Blazers have just one individual with the top mark in their respective events, but do boast several of the top marks in the conference this season. Leading the way is Megan Lawson who owns the best score on the one-meter board (234.80). Ellen Dean is third in the 200-fly (2:15.59) and fourth in the 400-IM (4:50.14), Stephanie Bierman is fourth in the 50-free (24.65), and fifth in the 100-free (54.33), Emily Roberts is fourth in the 100-back (1:00.75), and Victoria Tormanen is fourth in the 100-breast (1:09.20),

Just a Month Away: It's a sprint to the finish after today, as the MIAC Championship meet is just a month of weekends away, starting on Feb. 14. The Blazers will get to see plenty of MIAC competition in preparation, as they tune up with the Meet of the Saints at St. Thomas next weekend, before the St. Kate's Invite the following weekend.
