Volleyball Set to Host Hamline

After going undefeated through the Simpson Invitational, Saint Benedict looks to keep their winning streak alive with a home match against Hamline.

Last Time Out:
The Blazers played a great tournament last weekend, finishing 4-0 and only losing two sets total. The Blazers started out beating Coe 3-1. They won the first set 25-9 and the second 25-14. Then, Coe came back and won the third set 25-22, but the Blazers finished them off winning 25-12 in the fourth set. Saint Benedict then went on to sweep Simpson in the second game. They won the first set 25-15, the second 25-19, and the finished off the third set with 25-13 victory. The third game was the toughest for the Blazers as they beat Nebraska Wesleyan 3-1. They won a tough first set 25-23, but won the second set with ease winning 25-13. Nebraska Wesleyan came out playing hard and took the third set 25-20, but the Blazers toughed it out and finished the match with a 25-19 win. In the final game of the tournament, determined to take home the title, the Blazers swept Grinnell. They won the first set 25-22 in a close match and ran away with the second match finishing with a score of 25-10. The Blazers finished off the weekend with a 25-20 win in the third set to complete their second sweep of the tournament. Sophie Stangl and Taya Kockelman also made the All-Tournament team. Stangl finished the tournament with 59 kills and a .400 attacking percentage and Kockelman finished with 143 assists, three aces and five blocks.

2011 Meetings:
Saint Benedict only met Hamline once last year and walked away with a 3-1 victory. They started out the night with a 25-14 win and a team attacking percentage of .333. They fought hard in the second set and came up with another win, this time by a score of 25-19. In the third set, Hamline played a tough game and took a very close set winning 25-23. But, the Blazers came back to finish them off with a 25-12 win in the fourth set.
