Menomonie, Wis. – The Saint Benedict volleyball team scored a pair of wins today, beating Wisconsin-Stevens Point 3-2, host UW-Stout 3-0.
The Blazers topped the Pointers in a marathon match by set scores of 25-27, 25-15, 25-22, 19-25 and 15-13. They saw their 15-set winning streak halted with the loss in the opener, but recovered take the next two on their way to the win.
Against the Blue Devils, it was back to sweeps for the Blazers, as they took the match 25-17, 25-23, and 25-22.
With the two wins, the Blazers have now won a season high seven-straight, and are on a run of 13 wins on their last 14 matches. At 19-4 overall, they have already surpased their win total from each of the previous two seasons, with two games left to go this weekend, and seven total on the season.
The 19 also matches the career best mark for head coach
Nicole Hess, which she set in the 2009 season.
They'll resume play at the UW-Stout Invite Oct. 13, taking on UW-River Falls at 10 a.m., and St. Olaf at 12 p.m. in nonconference action.
