St. Joseph, Minn. – The Saint Benedict volleyball team suits up for their second-to-last home game of the year tonight (Oct. 10), taking on St. Catherine University at 7 p.m. Looking for their fifth straight sweep, the Blazers have also won 10 of their last 11 matches.

Last Time Out:
The Blazers continued their recent domination - which is now four the sweeps in a row - and have walked away with wins in 10 of their last 11 meetings. Their last win was in their first road game after three consecutive at home, where they went on to beat Macalester 3-0. The Scots kept the first set within reach for most of the game but the Blazers took the set 25-20. In the second set the Blazers really came out hitting hard with a team hitting percentage of .433, and took the set 25-13. In the third set, the Blazers came out hitting even harder and had a team hitting percentage of .529 which was their best hitting mark all year. They went on to win the third set 25-14. CSB finished the night with an overall hitting percentage of .436 which is the first time all year they cleared the .400 mark.
Lexi Alm put up 14 kills on the night and sophomores
Sophie Stangl and Alexa Rinde added another 13 and 12 respectively and both ended up with hitting percentages above .520. Rinde also finished the night with a hitting percentage of .579 which is her career best.
2011 Meetings:
The Blazers have swept St. Catherine the past two times the teams faced off. In their most recent match-up, St. Catherine kept the first set within reach but fell 25-17 to the Blazers. The second set was extremely close but the Blazers fought through it and pulled off a 27-25 win. For the third and final set, the Blazers again fought a close set and took away the win with a 29-27 victory. CSB also ended the night with an overall hitting percentage of .337.
