BOX SCORE
The College of Saint Benedict (2-2 overall, 0-0 MIAC) defeated the Finlandia Lions (0-2-1 overall) Saturday November 5 with a final score of 2-1.
Improvements were definitely made by the Blazers from Friday night's game against Lindenwood. They went from only putting 17 shots on goal to 54 and committed a significantly less amount of penalties.
The first period went scoreless until the end when
Kerri Graske assisted
Amie Ernst to score the Blazers first goal. The second goal came not long after from first- year forward
Megan Brettingen only 27 seconds into the second period. These were both Amie and Megan's second goals of the season.
Katie Harris gave the Lions a little bit of life by scoring late in the second, but they were unable to build off of the momentum and were shut out the entire third period sealing the victory for the Blazers.
The Blazers will have five days to recover from back to back games and keep making improvements in practice before taking on conference rival Saint Thomas (0-0-1) in a two game series. The first game of the series will be held at the MAC at 7:30 p.m. on November 10.
