BOX SCORE
The Blazers (2-4-1 overall, 0-2-1 MIAC) ice hockey team played a tough game against the Augsburg Auggies (3-1-1 overall, 2-1-1 MIAC) at home, but fell short in the last minutes to lose 5-4.
Junior defender
Catherine Pollock started off the night by putting the Blazers up 1-0 on a power play goal early in the first period. She was assisted by Allyson Nielsen.
Augsburg then scored three unanswered goals in the first and second periods that put the Blazers at a two goal deficit going into the third. First-year forward
Annie Gorman scored her first collegiate goal to spark a Blazer comeback a little over two minutes into the third period. She was almost immediately followed by two back to back goals by senior
Amie Ernst and junior
Ashley Olson just 38 seconds apart. This put the Blazers ahead 4-3 with 14 minutes left in the game.
Unfortunately Rachel Hennessy from Augsburg finished the game with two goals to push the Auggies ahead by one and win 5-4.
Despite the loss, the Blazers had their second four goal game of the season after only having one last year.
Saint Bens will look to finish strong tonight (November 19) in Minneapolis and come out with a win in their second game against the Auggies.
