BOX SCORE
The University of Saint Thomas (1-0-2 overall, 1-0-1 MIAC) hosted the College of Saint Benedict (2-3-1 overall, 0-1-1 MIAC) last night (Nov. 11) and defeated the Blazers 3-1.
After a scoreless first period, Saint Thomas put up two goals back to back half way through the second period with Jenny Saxon and Morgan Olson.
The Blazers showed signs of a comeback when junior
Ashley Olson scored on a power play to make it 2-1 with a little over eight minutes left in the game. In a desperate attempt to tie the game up, Saint Bens pulled their goalie with 23 seconds left. Unfortunately, Saint Thomas was able to put the puck in the empty net to confirm the Blazers loss 3-1.
On a positive note, the Blazers again showed depth in the goalie position as first-year
Jenna Traut followed up
Kaitlyn Rolando's amazing performance from the previous game with 37 saves of her own on 39 shots on goal.
The Blazers will play next at home against Augsburg College on November 18 at 7:30 p.m.
