Blazer Soccer Falls to Concordia 2-1, Ends Season As Top Seed in MIAC

The College of Saint Benedict Blazer soccer team (11-6-1 overall, 8-2-1 MIAC) fell to conference opponent Concordia (11-2-5 overall, 7-1-3 MIAC)  2-1 Saturday, October 29 in a hard fought battle between two of the top three team in the MIAC.

The game quickly went in the direction of the Cobbers as Sara Rounds scored her 11 goal of the season off an assist from Elizabeth Robinson during the 5 minute. Rounds' beat a Blazer defender and placed one perfectly over first-year goalkeeper Megan Favorite (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove). The Blazers however were not backing down as sophomore forward Kristina Burk (Westminster, CO, Holy Family) scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Colleen Bouchard (Cedar Rapids, IA, Xavier), to tie it 1-1 going into halftime.

The second half however opened in favor of the Cobbers, as Laura Prosinski scored off a rebound, shot by teammate Kelsey Swagger to give the Cobbers a 2-1 lead during the 67 minute. This was all the Cobbers needed to hang on for the victory. The Blazers added four shots in the second half but none of them could get past the Cobber's goalkeeper.

The Blazers ended the regular season as the top seed in the MIAC. They will host fourth ranked Macalester at 1pm on Tuesday, November 1.
