The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (9-1 overall, 6-1 MIAC) continues its winning streak, extending it to five consecutive wins in a 62-50 victory over Macalester this evening.
The Scots started the first half with a 6-2 lead over the Blazers, but CSB came back quickly, clinching a 12-8 lead with 11:30 left on the clock. Over the next nine minutes, the Blazers strung together a 10-7 run to make the score 22-15. The Scots were able to bring the score within one at 22-21 with 1:30 left, but CSB inched forward, going into halftime with a 24-21 lead.
The gap lengthened for the Blazers at the start of the second half, as they came up with a 28-21 lead over the Scots. Macalester continued to fight back, taking over the lead at 29-28. The Blazers then went on a 9-3 run to lead 39-32 with 10 minutes left in the half., and that's where it stayed for the remainder of the game. A 50% field-goal percentage in the second half gave CSB the edge it needed as the Blazers went on to win 62-50.

Amy Stifter (Watertown, MN, Watertown-Mayer) led CSB in scoring, contributing 13 and 12 points respectively. Gillund also grabbed six rebounds and totaled four blocks. Sophomore post
Hannah Hylla (Holdingford, Minn., Albany) added 10 points toward the win. Majra Mucic led Macalester with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
The Blazers next host Concordia on Sat., Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. in Claire Lynch Hall.
