The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (16-2 overall, 13-2 MIAC) defeated St. Olaf 81-59 in Northfield, MN this afternoon.
The Oles started the game with a 9-4 lead over the Blazers in the first five minutes of the half. They slowly continued to extend their lead to 16-7 with 11 minutes left on the clock. CSB then went on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to tie the score at 16. With four minutes left in the half, the game was still tied at 23 a piece before the Blazers moved forward on a 13-7 run to head into the locker room with a 36-30 lead.
Over the first three minutes of the second half, St. Olaf jumped on a 9-3 run to take back the lead at 39-38. CSB took the lead back one minute later at 43-42, and that's where it stayed for the remainder of the game. The Blazers took over with a 12-0 run to lead 55-42 with 11 minutes left on the clock. They continued to lengthen their distance as CSB led 63-45 with nine minutes remaining and then moved ahead by 22 points at 77-55 with three minutes left on the clock. As time ran out, the Blazers picked up an 81-59 win.

Amy Stifter (Watertown, MN, Watertown-Mayer) with 14 points, while senior post
Heather Gillund (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) added 13 points. Senior wings
Abby Richardson (Storm Lake, IA, St. Mary's) and
Joelle Waytashek (Lino Lakes, MN, Centennial) each had 11 points. Senior point guard
Devin Bowlin (Winona, MN, Winona Cotter) totaled seven points and five assists.
The Blazers next host Bethel on Mon., Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
