Blazer Ice Hockey Narrowly Defeated 2-1

Lead by senior goaltender Abbie Helminen (Brighton, MI, Brighton (Belle Tire))'s 52 saves in net, the College of Saint Benedict (2-10-3, 1-5-3 MIAC) narrowly lost 2-1 this afternoon while playing at conference leader Gustavus Adolphus.

The Blazers stuck first going up 1-0 on junior Kerri Graske (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater Area)'s fourth goal of the season just 1:32 into the first period. Graske was unassisted on the play. Gustavus responded with a goal of their own to even the game roughly two minutes later before scoring the game winner at 12:18 in the third period. 

Helminen recorded a .963 save percentage for the game while junior forwardAmie Ernst (North Mankato, MN, Mankato Loyola) led all Blazers with five shots recorded on net.

The Blazers host Hamline University Friday February 4 at the Municipal Athletic Complex in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. The series will pit two teams with similar records against each other with the opportunity for both to move up in the conference standings.
