The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (4-1 overall, 1-1 MIAC) suffered its first loss of the season with a tough 62-61 loss to St. Olaf.

The Blazers started the game with a 6-0 run in the first three minutes, eventually extending that lead to nine at 13-4 with 12 minutes remaining in the half.  CSB kept the pressure on St. Olaf, capitalizing on a 12-6 run to lead 25-10 with 7:30 left on the clock.  A 50% field goal percentage in the first half helped keep the Blazers moving forward as they went into the locker room with a 17-point lead at 39-22.

St. Olaf began the second half with an 11-2 run over CSB in the first four minutes of play to cut the score to 41-33.  Seven minutes later, with the clock reading 8:30, the Blazers were still ahead 55-45, but the Oles kept on the pressure.  CSB was held scoreless for the next four minutes as St. Olaf went on a 11-0 run to find its first lead of the game at 56-55.  The Oles score four more consecutive points to lead 60-55 with two minutes remaining.  Though the Blazers fought back, they couldn't overcome the Oles who won 62-61.

Leading the Blazers in scoring was senior wing Amy Stifter (Watertown, MN, Watertown-Mayer), who had 17 points and was 6-for-7 scoring, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.  Senior post Heather Gillund (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) also contributed 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  St. Olaf was led by Mackenzie Wolters, who had 19 points.
