The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (4-1 overall, 1-1 MIAC) suffered its first loss of the season with a tough 62-61 loss to St. Olaf.
The Blazers started the game with a 6-0 run in the first three minutes, eventually extending that lead to nine at 13-4 with 12 minutes remaining in the half. CSB kept the pressure on St. Olaf, capitalizing on a 12-6 run to lead 25-10 with 7:30 left on the clock. A 50% field goal percentage in the first half helped keep the Blazers moving forward as they went into the locker room with a 17-point lead at 39-22.
St. Olaf began the second half with an 11-2 run over CSB in the first four minutes of play to cut the score to 41-33. Seven minutes later, with the clock reading 8:30, the Blazers were still ahead 55-45, but the Oles kept on the pressure. CSB was held scoreless for the next four minutes as St. Olaf went on a 11-0 run to find its first lead of the game at 56-55. The Oles score four more consecutive points to lead 60-55 with two minutes remaining. Though the Blazers fought back, they couldn't overcome the Oles who won 62-61.

Heather Gillund (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) also contributed 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. St. Olaf was led by Mackenzie Wolters, who had 19 points.
