The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (1-1 overall, 0-0 MIAC) was defeated 3-0 in Seattle, WA, today by Pacific Lutheran University (2-0 overall) in their first match of the Puget Sound Invite.
Although Pacific Lutheran took the lead in the first set, CSB never backed down, staying within four points of Lutes throughout the set and losing with a close score of 22-25.
The Blazers kicked off the second set with an impressive 6-0 lead, but the Lutes stayed in the shadows throughout the remainder of the match, slowly closing the margin. The score was eventually tied at 19, at which point Pacific Lutheran regained the lead. CSB kept on the head, but again was defeated 22-25.
The third set was much like the first, as the Lutes inched ahead of the Blazers. CSB tied the score at five different points throughout the game but just couldn't pulled ahead, losing for a third time 22-25.

Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, MN, Hibbing) led the Blazers with12 kills. Senior setter
Beth Hanson (Faribault, MN, Bethlehem Academy) led the team in set assists and digs, with 27 and 16 respectively. Senior libero
Andrea Millerbernd (Littlefork, MN, Littlefork-Big Falls) also had 14 digs for CSB.
This marks the Blazers' first loss of the season, but they hope to redeem themselves as they take on Simpson College at 6 p.m. this evening.
