The College of Saint Benedict softball team lost a pair of 5-2 decisions to Muskingum College and Bluffton University on Thursday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida. The Blazers (1-7 overall, 0-0 MIAC) have played a number of competitive games this week at the Rebel Spring Games but have struggled to come out on top.
Against Muskingum, the preseason No. 6 ranked team in Division 3, senior
Genna Strauss (Red Wing, MN, Red Wing), sophomore
Kristen Herges (Rochester, MN, John Marshall), and sophomore
Alicia Muckenhirn (Delano, MN, Delano) led the Blazers offensive attack. Strauss continued to stay hot at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance. Herges went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Muckenhirn was 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore catcher
Carissa Hancock (Grand Rapids, MN, Grand Rapids) added a double and a run scored for CSB.
In game 2, the Blazers trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. Sophomore
Alyssa Kubesh (Buffalo Lake, MN, Buffalo Lake-Hector) put the Blazers on the board with a two run homerun.
The Blazers are back in action Friday morning when they play Misericordia University at 9 am followed by a 1 pm game with Eastern University. Earlier this week, CSB lost to Eastern 4-3.
