Blazers Lose Tight Match 2-1

BOX SCORE

The College of Saint Benedict (1-5-2, 0-3-4 MIAC) narrowly were denied their first MIAC win by Bethel University as the Royals slipped by the Blazers 2-1.

Bethel used a first period blitz, outshooting the Blazers 15-5 to gain the upper hand; while continuing the momentum in the second period as they grabbed a 2-0 lead.

The Blazers were able to cut the lead in half when junior forward Gretchen Leyendecker (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) scored with just under two minutes left in the game. Leyendecker was assisted on the goal by sophomore forward Andrea Parsons (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo). Despite pulling junior goalie Abbie Helminen (Brighton, MI, Brighton (Belle Tire)) the last minute in the game, the team was unable to find the back of the net as Bethel skated away with their second MIAC win.

The two teams finish the series tomorrow at the MAC in Saint Cloud. The game starts at 2 pm.
