The College of Saint Benedict basketball team picked up its sixth straight victory in a 74-55 win over St. Mary's University Saturday in Winona, Minn.
Two runs and ten minutes were the key for the Blazers' win. The first run occurred in the last six minutes of the first half in which CSB outscored the Cardinals 16-7 and went into the locker room with a lead of 35-24. The Blazers came out for the secod half on fire, making a 14-0 run in the first four minutes and maintaining the lead to defeat the Cardinals 74-55.
Four Blazers scored in double digits on Saturday. Junior
Mindy Schmidt (Brooklyn Park, MN, Champlin Park) led the scoring with 20 points. Sophomores
Danielle Frank (Caledonia, MN, Caledonia) and
Amy Stifter (Watertown, MN, Watertown-Mayer) each added 12 points, while senior
Ariel Tauer (Edina, MN, Edina) contributed 10 point.
Next the Blazers head to Northfield, Minn., where they take on St. Olaf on Mon., Jan. 5.
