The College of Saint Benedict women's soccer team saw one of the most memorable seasons in school history come to an end on a chilly afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament.  After a thrilling fight that lasted all of regulation and two overtime periods, the Blazers surrendered a goal in the final seconds of the second overtime and watched their remarkable season come to an end against the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in Chicago, Ill.

With 15 seconds left in the second overtime, the Pointers' Kaylee Weise knocked home a goal past the Blazers' goalkeeper Shannon Strohm (Burnsville, Minn. /Apple Valley), propelling UW-Stevens Point over the Blazers and into the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The game remained tied following two second half goal by the Blazers. Junior Rachel Loftus (Savage, Minn. /Holy Angels) put the Blazers on the board at 54:24 of the contest when she scored on a header following a corner kick. With less than 10 minutes left in regulation play, junior Tina Lisk (Louisville, Colo. /Monarch) snuck a rebound past the Pointers' goalkeeper to knot the game up at two goals apiece. The score would stay that way until the 109:45 mark of the contest, when the Pointers sealed the deal on Weise's game winner.

The Blazers began the season perfect with twelve straight wins and managed to finish the regular season 14-2, earning a top seed in the MIAC playoffs. The Blazers garnered the NCAA's attention with a dominant showing in the MIAC playoffs, earning their first NCAA playoff berth since 2002.

Upon returning home from the windy city, the Blazers will have rewritten the record books with their 2007 campaign – and have imprinted their legacy on the cover.

For fans and Blazer faithful – this has been one unforgettable season.
