ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Leah Koll put on a show for the College of Saint Benedict track and field team’s home fans Sunday afternoon.

Koll, a first year from Winona, won the triple jump with a career-best mark that also leads the MIAC and is in the top 40 in Division III. She also finished in the top 10 in the long jump in her first time competing in the event, and ran a leg on the second-place 400-meter relay team. For her performance, Koll has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.

Koll’s biggest performance Sunday came in the triple jump. After recording a career-best mark on the Blazers’ spring break trip in Texas – a mark that was in the top 10 in school history – she one-upped herself at the CSB|SJU Invite at Clemens Stadium. She won Sunday’s event with a mark of 10.97 meters, which is sixth in CSB history, first in the MIAC and, as of Monday, tied for 37th in Division III.

The record-setting mark came in Koll’s third event of the day. She started the meet by running the first leg of the 400 meter relay for CSB. Koll and her teammates took second in the event in 50.58 seconds. Next, Koll moved on to the long jump. After competing in the event for the first time as a Blazer, Koll finished ninth with a mark of 4.86 meters.

Koll has placed in the top five in the triple jump in all three meets she has competed in so far this outdoor season, including Sunday’s win and a runner-up finish at Trinity (Texas). She finished just out of scoring position in the event at the MIAC Indoor Championships, taking ninth with a mark of 10.35 meters.

Koll and the Blazers are back in action Saturday, April 16, when they head to the Gustavus Invite in St. Peter, Minn.
